Bloom
Pregnancy Massage
Targeted treatment for pain relief, injury support, and specific areas of tension.
Support as your body adapts, expands and prepares for birth
Pregnancy asks a great deal of the body.
As your body changes, it can bring new layers of tension, pressure and discomfort through the lower back, hips, glutes, legs, ribs, shoulders and neck.
BLOOM is a pregnancy massage designed to support comfort, circulation and ease through each stage of pregnancy. Your session can be shaped around what you need on the day, whether that is slower, more restorative bodywork to help your nervous system settle, or more targeted remedial pregnancy massage for specific areas of pain, tension or restriction.
Treatment may focus on common areas of pregnancy discomfort, while also giving your body time to rest and feel supported.
BLOOM is suitable throughout pregnancy, including the first trimester. Your intake form is thorough and screens for contraindications before your appointment, so treatment can be planned safely and appropriately for you and your baby.
Some of the reasons people seek this work include...
• Lower back, hip or pelvic discomfort.
• Glute, leg or calf tension.
• Shoulder, neck or upper back tension.
• General heaviness, fatigue or discomfort throughout the body.
• Swelling or fluid retention.
• Sleep disruption or difficulty getting comfortable.
• A need for targeted remedial pregnancy massage for a specific area.
• A need for slower, more restorative pregnancy massage to support rest and down-regulation.
• Safe, supportive bodywork during pregnancy.
Who is this treatment for?
BLOOM is suitable throughout pregnancy, including the first trimester.
This treatment may be helpful if your body is adapting to pregnancy changes, if you are feeling tension in several areas, or if you want safe, supportive care as your body prepares for birth.
Your session can be adapted depending on what you need. Some clients come in wanting relaxation, nervous system support and time to rest. Others need more specific remedial pregnancy massage for the lower back, hips, glutes, legs, ribs, shoulders or neck.
Both are welcome.
If your pregnancy has been identified as high-risk, or if you have been advised of any complications, please speak with your GP, obstetrician, midwife or maternity care provider before booking. Written clearance may be required prior to treatment.
What to expect
-
Your session begins before you arrive, with a detailed intake form.
This helps screen for contraindications and gives your therapist the information needed to adapt your treatment safely.
At your appointment, there will be a brief check-in about how far along you are, how your pregnancy has been, what areas are feeling uncomfortable, and what kind of treatment you are needing on the day.
You can choose whether the focus feels more restorative and calming, or more targeted and remedial.
-
Pregnancy massage is adapted to your stage of pregnancy and comfort on the day.
Treatment may include work through the lower back, hips, glutes, legs, feet, shoulders, neck, arms or hands, depending on your needs and the length of your session.
If your body needs more targeted support, the session may include remedial pregnancy massage techniques for specific areas of pain, tightness or restriction.
If your body needs more rest, the session can move at a slower pace, with more focus on comfort, circulation, and helping the nervous system settle.
Positioning is carefully supported with pillows, bolsters, and where suitable, a specialised pregnancy pillow that allows for supported prone positioning. This means some clients can lie face down during pregnancy massage in a safe and supported way, allowing familiar relief through the back, hips and shoulders.
Prone positioning is not suitable for every pregnancy. This will be checked through your intake form and discussed before treatment begins.
Pressure and technique are adjusted throughout the session. You are welcome to ask for changes at any point.
-
After treatment, you may feel softer, lighter, calmer, or more comfortable in your body.
Some people feel sleepy after pregnancy massage, while others feel clearer and more settled.
You may also be given simple aftercare suggestions to support comfort between sessions.

Restored Massage Therapy now offers a specialised pregnancy pillow that supports prone positioning for suitable pregnancies. This allows some clients to lie face down in a safe and supported way during treatment.
For many people, this can offer familiar relief through the back, hips and shoulders, especially as pregnancy progresses.
Prone positioning is not suitable for every pregnancy. Some contraindications apply and are checked through your intake form before your appointment.
If prone positioning is not suitable for you on the day, your treatment can be adapted with side-lying or other supported positioning.
-

This does not mean massage is automatically ruled out. It simply helps ensure treatment is safe, appropriate, and adapted to you.
